In 2012, Scott DL recorded with Grammy Award-winning engineer/producer Bruce Swedien at West Viking Studios.

Scott remarked, “Bruce is one of my favorite people in the world! I was honored to work with him and even happier to count he and his wife Bea as friends. Every day at West Viking hanging with Bruce was a great day. No one mixes like he does. He has a sonic personality and a million stories to share.”

On the DVD accompanying his book The Bruce Swedien Recording Method, Swedien uses Scott’s song Imperfection, including Scott’s lead vocal and guitar performances, to describe techniques he uses to mix a song.
