Mormon Cowboy

Written by Scott DL

Abraham met Sarah on his first cattle drive
He said, “Girl, you’re prettier than a Colt .45”
And that’s all it took to make her his bride
Two became one

They were married for a year when Abe was put to the test
He met young Hannah Morgan in a blue cotton dress
He said, “Lord, I love Sarah all the way through,
but I have to admit I kind of like this one, too”
Three became one

And as he rides across the land
He’s never been a one-mare man
Well they call him Abraham
Mormon cowboy

History was repeated with Mrs. three through nine
He kept falling in love all of the time
The townsfolk didn’t cotton to all of Abe’s wedding days
He was a peace-loving man in all the wrong ways

And as he rides across the land
He’s never been a one-mare man
Well they call him Abraham
Mormon cowboy

Before his next blushing bride even lifted her veil
Tongues started wagging, “She’d arrived in the mail”
The mayor declared and the town all agreed
There’d be no more planting of Abraham’s seed

Cause as he rides across the land
He’s never been a one-mare man
Well they call him Abraham
Mormon cowboy
